5th Annual Walk with the Maasai 6-17-10

Frog Pond Productions is Ten Years Old

My Maasai name is Nesiamo, which translates from Maa to mean “host” or “leader of a delegation.” Our Maasai friends gave me this name during our MCEP trip to Kenya in December 2005; my job title was Executive Producer of the documentary film project “Quench” with nine travelers in our group. I was privileged to travel to Kenya again in December 2006 as a hired consultant helping the Hairzing project to get started with the Olorien Women’s Group. Once again in June of this year I was blessed to visit our Maasai friends and bring along three women and my daughter Carmen – among them two teachers from Buckingham Friends School who were scouting to assess the feasibility of brings BFS students to Kenya for a student exchange program.

When I speak about the work I do for Frog Pond Productions I often say that I am the only “worker bee” which is true when it comes to most of the mundane (and necessary) administrative concerns. However, one cannot produce in a vacuum. A Producer’s job is to balance the business and the creative, and being creative often demands a team or, at least, a group effort. Over the years I have met, worked and collaborated with so many amazing and talented people, as individuals and in groups (EC one of the most notable to be sure). In the last year I have been called to service in such unique and special ways, and I am tremendously proud of our efforts to affect change.

Ten years of doing the business of Frog Pond Productions has brought me countless rewards, well beyond my wildest dreams. Collectively we have achieved so many worthwhile and productive goals. I have witnessed first-hand what powerful good we can collectively do by drilling boreholes and educating children in Maasailand. Our films help carry the message, and educate viewers in profound and persuasive ways. We have saved, and continue to save, lives with the work that we have produced.

I am ever so proud and honored to be the leader of this our delegation of donors and supporters who have provided so much good service and good work to the world. My sincere thanks to all of you for your support.
